Unless ofcourse you run into a problem and one of the developers want's
you to for a short while... (squid -k debug should only be used for as
short period as possible, only as needed to reproduce the bug/issue

I have a very similar patch that restarts all helpers while rotating
logs. See http://squid.sourceforge.net/hno/ somewhere, or try one of the
Squid-2.5 snapshots. If logfile_rotate is set to 0 then the effect is
mostly the same as your patch.
