[SQU] WCCP Question

Folks,

I plan to implement WCCP for my Squid. Because it frequently gets a HDD space problem (space limit). My latest problem was; Squid abnormally ended because it cannot write to HDD (no space left). Then I should set lower for cache_dir and start over the cache from very beginning.

Please correct me for my opinion about wccp below:

I assume that WCCP is an "additional" signal to device such as Router or L3/L4 Switching HUB. The router (or switch) will detect the wccp signal for it's decision to redirect the http request or not. It means, if device detect wccp from my Squid it will redirect otherwise it will fetch to Internet.
