Yeah . Kernel 2.4 is better for working with disk . You must increase the
filedescriptor on your kernel and remove anythings that you don't need for
your squid box machine like supporting USB , Large Routing Table , ... and
any other things that you don't need to kernel be shorter and shorter to
load in memory .
