Out of curiosity i ran ntlm_auth manually from a shell prompt and this is
what i got:
[root@l10803 bin]# ./ntlm_auth \\NT14202
ntlm-auth[20075](ntlm_auth.c:487): starting up...
ntlm-auth[20075](ntlm_auth.c:491): options processed OK
ntlm-auth[20075](ntlm_auth.c:511): creating cache structure
ntlm-auth[20075](ntlm_auth.c:515): Firing housekeeping routines up
ntlm-auth[20075](ntlm_auth.c:520): managing request
TlRMTVNTUAABAAAABoIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMAAAAAAAAAAwAAAA
ntlm-auth[20075](ntlm_auth.c:327): ntlm authenticator. Got
'TlRMTVNTUAABAAAABoIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMAAAAAAAAAAwAAAA' from
cache
ntlm-auth[20075](ntlm_auth.c:381): status 0
ntlm-auth[20075](libntlmssp.c:150): Connecting to server
CH TlRMTVNTUAACAAAAAAAAACgAAACCgkEAaQ0J0FxfOpwAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
ntlm-auth[20075](ntlm_auth.c:520): managing request
I'm not sure if this is expected or not.. i dont see any message about not
being able to connect.. so i figured that maybe it was a rights issue since
squid runs as "nobody" but when i su'd and ran it as nobody i got the same
thing..

Magnus, please keep replies cc'd to the list. This will ensure the fastest
response for you.
Quoting from your message below
"
ntlm-auth[19939](libntlmssp.c:150): Connecting to server
ntlm-auth[19939](libntlmssp.c:154): Couldn't connect to SMB Server
ntlm-auth: ERR couldn't obtain a challenge from the Domain Controller
"
is your SMB Servers name resolvable? (IE can you ping NT14202)
Rob
