I have installed a Redhat 6.1 box, with squid (forget the version that comes
with RH6.1), created a separate /squid ext2 partition for the cache. When I
used squid, it got the following error
Oct 28 17:49:36 squid (squid): storeDirCloseTmpSwapLog: rename failed
Oct 28 17:49:36 squid squid[604]: Squid Parent: child process 691 exited
with st
atus 1
I upgraded to squid 2.3.4, and the error message has gone away. But I still
get strange problems. i.e when I try to shutdown squid, it won't shutdown,
the /var/log/messages shows..
Oct 29 18:30:28 squid xfs: xfs shutdown succeeded
Oct 29 18:30:30 squid httpd: httpd shutdown succeeded
Oct 29 18:30:31 squid squid: Stopping squid:
Oct 29 18:30:32 squid squid[5603]: Squid Parent: child process 5604 exited
with
status 0
Oct 29 18:30:33 squid squid: .
Oct 29 18:30:49 squid last message repeated 8 times
I end up having to power off rather than waiting for a clean shutdown. I am
assuming squid dies during shutdown, bounces back up, is told to go back
down by init, and again dies and is in an endless loop. But why??
Regards,
Tony
