I have squid configured as webaccelerator for two servers running apache.
Rerequesting a page using IE5 does not show the user the webpage, but I am
uncertain which chain in the link causes the problem:
Conditions:
- errors only occur with domains on the apache 1.2.4 and not with 1.3.3
and with Internet Explorer 5 as browser
- none of the 'http-violations' are enabled in the accelerator
- the user is located behind a transparent proxy
browser --- transparent proxy --- webaccelerator +--- apache 1.2.4 != OK
IE5 ??? SQ2.5S5hno |
+--- apache 1.3.3 == OK
Symptoms:
- first request to any, not yet by that browser visited, page == OK
- second request (I assume IE5 requests a 304?) is always != OK
- cleaning the disk-cache will solve the problem for one request. Upon
re-requesting the same object for the 4th time the problem occurs again.
- the request stalls half way through: always at the same place, though
different per file.
I have heard of similar problem (IE5) before related to using an
accelerator in a different environment, however, their solution (turning
the accelerator off) is not an option in my case.
Any ideas, leads or URLs are welcome. Would upgrading Apache work, or is
this related to vhosts/keepalive or something else?
