[SQU] External Authentication and Hanging Proxy

I am doing an installation of squid for low volume use to access some
internal resources that only allow traffic that matches our domain name
and ip address range. I am using a custom written authentication script
that seems to work quite nicely - fully tested and so forth.

Here is the problem:
I click on a link, authenticate, then get a connected to (whatever the
web site I try to go to), waiting for reply... and eventually get a
document contains no data error.

I get nothing in the squid logs or system logs to indicate what is
causing this behavior. The cache.log is below.

Ideas?
