I think you don't need cache_dir sizing formula, but you forgot to patch
your squid release. Check the stable 2.3 bugs page.
But if you need the formula... :), First, don't take all of your disk
spaces, take only 60% or less. Second, find the number of L1
dir. -->(((cache-size-KB/avg.-KB)/256)/256)*2= L1 dir. (L2 will always 256)

And the problem is: squid uses ALL available disk space (4Gb) instead of
1800Mb. After disk is full, squid crashes.
Is there any cache calculation tips/hints ?
