This is discussed in the FAQ. But how big is your squid process?
Hard to belive 1GB of RAM is not enough. Maybe you have other
processes on the machine or the OS is imposing some limits.

Usually means you don't have enough mbufs or mbuf clusters
allocated by the kernel. Maybe poke around the system tuning
menus and see if you can increase mbufs.
