squid and iptables

I've got two questions regarding the use of iptables with squid.
Is there any difference in cache performance with transparent proxying
whether the chain for the local machine with squid running is set to
'REDIRECT ---to squidport' or 'DNAT --to 127.0.0.1:squidport' (does
it make any difference for squid requests)? from the user point of view
i'd prefer the second way.
 And is there any way to also deploy transparent ftp proxying?
