yeah...create a user and group squid or whatever and edit your squid.conf file...
you and others if they want to can check out www.linuxdoc.org
they have the pdf file for Securing and Optimizing Linux under Red Hat...I think
in chapter 8 is where they teach you how to optimize squid ....its pretty good....
