Squis doesn`t work!!

Hello,
I am using Linux6.2 and squid2.3, Now
squid doesn`t start at all from /usr/local/squid/bin
it gives error : unknown cache_dir type /usr/local/squid/cache

It starts only at /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/

And if it start , I can`t open any pages from proxy.

Pls reply me asap.
