Hello,
I am a very happy squid user, but have one problem. Some of my users
need to use the FTP program ws_ftp. In here you can setup a true ftp
proxy server, it cannot be a squid, because it translate ftp into http,
which is what the SQUID FAQ says. Another solution could be, according
to ws_ftp, to use a transparent proxy:
All You have to do is to force your router to reflect FTP
requests (port 21)
to a host running tproxyd (or use a firewall to do that) -
that's easy. Also You
need to modify tproxyd to accept, rewrite and forward FTP
requests
(transformed into HTTP) to the Squid (or any other cache
proxy).
I cannot do that, so my firewall/router administrator says.
Any idea's?
Thomas
