Did you apply the patches?

I have a 2.4.DEVEL2 working fine for a few weeks now
on a FreeBSD 2.2.5-RELEASE (using diskd - the only special
configuration I used).
I have a minor problem though: cache manager reports
a wrong LRU time...

PS: before the patches, squid was consuming a _lot_ (>90%) of CPU...
