It may work, but I have the same problem on Solaris 2.6 (SPARC) using Sun's
C compiler. One compiler mis-optimising something is certainly possible, but
two unrelated compilers having similar problems seems much less likely.
Unfortunately I've not yet been able to get a core dump (had ulimit set to
low and it hasn't done it since I increased the limit :-).
[I should add that I've got Henrik Nordstrom's patch snapshot (20000202
version) installed, so that's another factor which could change things, but
clearly not *avoid* the SEGV crashes.]
