I had the exact same problem... and the way to fix it is to run Squid 2.4 DEVEL2 with DISKD... Now I am rock solid and getting about 35-50% Caching after 3 days. Change the cache type to diskd in your squid.conf and compile it with diskd enabled and you will be rock solid too... if you need any help, e-mail me directly.

Subject: Squid 2.3STABLE2 and FreeBSD 4.0-RELEASE

Hi,

I'm stumped by the following error. There seem to be other people with the
same problem but I can't seem to find the actual solution to the problem
in the mailing list archives.

Everytime I start up squid via RunCache I get the following

FATAL: Received Segment Violation...dying.
2000/03/17 14:19:07| Not currently OK to rewrite swap log.
2000/03/17 14:19:07| storeDirWriteCleanLogs: Operation aborted.

I've turned asyncio off on the filesystem in question and I'm nit using
softupdates.

As the subject says, FreeBSD 4.0-RELEASE and Squid 2.3 Stable 2

Any ideas where to look?

Thanks
Gavin
