I am trying to set up squid for the first time, and I have 2 questiosn
that I can't seem to figure out from the docs.
This squid instance will be runing on an internal corporate network. In
order to access sites in the ouside world it will need to use teh SOCLS
protocol and always query on port 1080 of a know host.
How can I set this up? The FAQ reeres to using a parent cache, but I
don;t understand how to make this work. Would this host be my parent
cache? If so how do I make squid use the SOCKS protocol? Could someone
give me an example of how to configure this?
The second questiosn relates to ACLS. I am confused as to the syntax to
use. I put the following 2 lines in squid.conf:
acl fas src 205.159.77.0/255.255.255.0
http_access allow manager localhost fas westvaco
But attempting to access teh squid server from 205.159.77.234 was still
refued.
What do I have wrong in this syntax?
Thanks for the help on this.
