Hmm, i do not think so, may be i am wrong, look at the starting lines in the
squid.conf file:
# TAG: http_port
# Usage: port
# hostname:port
# 1.2.3.4:port
So i understand that i can use the syntax http_port my.domain.com:8000

Because, as the example indicates, the correct syntax is:
http_port 8000
Don't include the host name here.
