Is it 2.3st1 not support multithreading download from http?

Hi,all
    My squid 2.3 stable 1 is on my Sun Solaris 2.5.1 and 143M Sparc CPU.
About 4G cache disk and 2G system ,128M RAM.I have following question :
    When I use multithreading soft to download , The speed is not stable,and when download about 1M byte,the download would been stopped. And the browser is not stable.
    In the squid.conf,I almost use the default values.
