You probably need to rebuild the RPM to match your older system, or
update the kernel as well (which in turn requires a couple of other
programs to be updated)
Download the squid SRPMS rpm
run rpm --rebuild <squid-*.src.rpm>
install the generated squid-*.i386.rpm
Or simply upgrade your whole RedHat system.
