-- I have installed squid 2 in SuSE Linux 6.1. The package of squid comes along the distribution CD. I am quite new in this enviorment. I'm facing problem in configuring Squid version 2 with SUSE 6.1 Below is the details of the hardware I'm using : Compaq PII 400MHz, 128MB RAM, 2x9 GB UW SCSI II HDD Now the system is connected through ISDN Zyxel Omni TA128(external)to outside net.My dial up is configured & I want to use this server as gateway server & squid as proxy for other clients. I have configured the system with my ISP as DNS server, now any attempt to run Squid tried to run the DNS server though -D option is set to bypass the initial DNS lookup. The excerpt from the cache.log after attempting to start Squid. 9/08/31 18:52:50| ipcCreate: Failed to create child FD. 1999/08/31 18:52:50| dnsOpenServers: WARNING: Failed to start 'dnsserver' #2. 1999/08/31 18:52:50| commBind: Cannot bind socket FD 4 to 127.0.0.1:0: (99) Cannot assign requested address I'm not able to understand ,why this "Cannot bind socket ..." error is coming.
