The cure is to dump Adaptec hardware. I'm hapily running
boards based on ex-NCR, ex-ATT, ex-SYMBIOS, now-LSILOGIC chips. Asus
has a terrific non expensive board basec on the 53c875 chip that works
verry well, at least with the various FreeBSD kernels I operate.
