Recommendation: Get latest Linux 2.2 + Alan Cox "ac" patch set.
Patching a Linux 2.0.X kernel to support large amounts of
filedescriptors is not recommended.
Linux 2.0.X defaults to 256 filedescriptors. Patching required to
support more (I know the Squid FAQ says none is required, but I beleive
it is).
Linux 2.2.X is supposed to support up to 1024 without patching. With the
ac patch set I think there is no practical upper limit.
