1. Detecting that it was a false hit. Can be done in any number of ways,
but the simplest one requiring no additional support from the peer is by
detecting if the status code is something that may have been generated
by the peer and not the origin server.

2. Falling back on the origin site (or perhaps another peer) when a
false hit is detected.
