disable DNS server in Squid 2.1(P1)

Hello,

I'm trying to disable the use of DNS in a Squid 2.1(P1) (yes, I
know what I'm doing).

The problem is, that I don't get the usual warning about poor
performance, but a fatal error!
Just putting the line: "dns_children 0" in the config file
produces this messages on startup:

>FATAL: No dnsservers allocated
>Squid Cache (Version 2.1.PATCH1): Terminated abnormally.

Is this a changed behaviour of the 2.1 version or am I missing
something?
