proxy_auth modules and signals?

I've written an external auth module for Blockade authentication, but I
think that I've missed something. I wrote it to read the config on startup,
then sit in a loop reading from STDIN. I have been using RunCache to start
squid, but when I try to use any squid -k commands, my auth modules die and
don't come back unless I manually kill RunCache and all the squid processes.
Other than <username> <password>, is there any other input that Squid gives
to the external modules to tell them to die, reread configs, etc.?
