I'm getting what would seem to be a misleading error in the following
configuration (using squ 2.1 PRE4). Basically, two squid's, one with
access past the firewall, and another tunneling all external requests
through it.
The second squid has the following (relevant) config options:
always_direct allow intranet
never_direct deny intranet
never_direct allow all
cache_peer firewall_squid parent 3128 3130 no-query
However, if the firewall squid server is down, squid logs:
1998/11/18 13:07:45| TCP connection to firewall_squid/3128 failed
but returns a 'Connection Failed' (ERR_CONNECT_FAIL) error to the user,
which suggests that the destination site is down, as opposed to something
which indicates its a parent cache problem (ERR_CANNOT_FORWARD, perhaps).
