I've recently got a connection to the @Home domain, who appear to be
running Netscape proxy cache on 8080, with an autoconfig between
2 or more local caches.
I'm running Squid 1.1.2 at home with a couple of NLANR caches as parents,
and a
few siblings on a co-operative basis. I'd like to include the @Home caches
in a reasonable manner. They don't appear to have ICP or UDP echo enabled.
I'm not exactly sure what I should be putting in the config; I've
currently got things like
cache_host pa.cache.nlanr.net parent 3128 3130
#cache_host proxy.rdc1.bc.wave.home.com parent 8080 7 no-query default
cache_host proxy1.rdc1.bc.wave.home.com parent 8080 7 no-query
cache_host proxy2.rdc1.bc.wave.home.com parent 8080 7 no-query
cache_host_domain pa.cache.nlanr.net !.home.com !.home.net
neighbor_type_domain pa.cache.nlanr.net sibling .com .ca .net
(proxy is an alias for proxy1, proxy2)
but from the logs it's not clear that requests are falling through to
the home.com proxy; rather, I seem to get DIRECT more often than not.
...BTW, I see in http://cache.is.co.za/squid/hierarchies/concepts.html it
says
cache_host cache.big-isp.com parent 3128 3130 no-query default
.. will connect to it for all queries.
while
http://squid.nlanr.net/Squid/FAQ/FAQ-10.html#ss10.16
says direct will be preferred over default
