cache ftp data ?

When the browser fetch some data form a URL like :
        ftp://some.where/some.file
It works, but when a second client fetch data from the same URL again,
judging from the speed, I think the data are coming from the Internet
instead of the cache. Is it possible to cache the ftp data ? Thank you for
