I had problems with HoTMaiL for a while, because our parent
proxy was blocking access to dotted quad site names. I don't know
if this is the same problem that you are having, but my solution
was to use a redirector to map HoTMaiL's IP addresses back to
host names (used nslookup to get these) and then let the parent
resolve the name. It slowed things down a bit, but slow access
beats no access. Of course, this only worked for sites that have
DNS entries for all their machines...
