I'm new to using squid and I havn't yet got it working. I'm running
a FreeBSD-3.0-current machine which acts as an ISDN router to the internet
and behind that ISDN router I'm running a private network 192.168.1.0.
squid1.1 is running fine, the cache.log looks ok.
I'm also running httpd.
Now some beginners questions:
1) I assume I name a cache_host being in the Internet rather than my
gateway (localhost from the view of squid). What type of server
does this have to be? Is it sufficient if a httpd is running there?
2) It seems that I can only give one parent host as my
cache_host - otherwise I'm getting bind - address already in use
or something.
3) My first attempt to connect from a 192.168.1.x machine (Win95/MSIE3.0)
resulted in the following log:
854891156.478 52 192.168.1.126 ERR_CANNOT_FETCH/400 947 GET http://www.micro
soft.com/ - NO_DIRECT_FAIL/www.microsoft.com -
I'd ge grateful if someone could lend me a helping hand to get it working.
Thanks in advance.
