Can you restart dnsserver processes?

Says it all really. I just had to change the IP address of a virtual Web
server we host here, and squid refused to see the new site. In the end I
killed the dnsserver processes and HUPed squid - that started off new
dnsserver processes - but I wonder if there's a better way?
