Sockets stay in CLOSING or LAST_ACK state

Hi!

I have problems with one site which is using Cameleon TCP/IP package. If
they connect to cache, sockets are not closed properly and stay in
CLOSING or LAST_ACK state several days. It wouldn't worry me otherwise
but couple of times in day my cache machine loses network connectivity.
Cannot ping even other hosts in LAN but when all connections time out, it
starts to work again. The quick solution is to restart Squid. Has anyone
other experienced such problems and is there any way to get over it?

I'm using FreeBSD 2.1 and Squid 1.0
