Squid uses non-blocking I/O for networking, which is similar but not
identical to asynchronous I/O. But then this depents on what your
definition of asyncronous I/O is (there is a variety of
implementations of asyncronous I/O on different OS:es).
Information on how to configure Squid without caching can be found in
the Squid FAQ or in squid.conf. Specifically see the no_cache
directive.
