This ofcourse is no longer true since 2.4, so I have to change the

That's the actual use of the patch - it simply doesn't start unlinkd
when you're not running "ufs". Strictly seen not needed, but it's
cleaner. Precompiled squid versions usually have all possible types
of cache-dir-type compiled in, and why run unlinkd if the cache is
configured to use aufs or diskd only.
