Both autoconf and automake comes with quite extensive documentation
including style recommendations.

writing a Squid specific guide is not worth the effort I think. 99% of
the additions needed is very simple and should not require a guide other
than the other "identical" options already there, the other 1% is
generally quite complex and won't be covered by such a guide anyway...
